Model F / Tarago

The first contact with the R20 series Toyota Model F was at an early age, when my parents bought me a Majorette toy in 1:64 scale during a summer holiday in France. it was light green metallic, with an opening rear door. This was about three decades ago, when these were a common sight on European streets – before the rust consumed most of them and they nearly went extinct. This van was also sold in Japan as the LiteAce and MasterAce, in the USA as the Toyota Van and in Australia as the Toyota Tarago.

The quirky proportions inspired me to lower the vehicle over wider and larger diameter wheels. The overfenders are necessary for tire clearance and are based on Lamborghini Countach items, believe it or not. Airride would be my preferred choice on this one, even though you might get away with going static and using coilovers. The USDM front bumper has been shortened and the rear bumper removed. Period-correct brown stripes accentuate the light sand metallic and brown two-tone paint. Driving dynamics might be improved, but take a look at my lifted Toyota Previa All-Trac 4×4 Wanderlust Van if you want to go off-road.
