BTCC GTC

Watching The Late Brake Show BTCC Idol Chat interview series with Jason Plato and Matt Neal inspired me to create this phantom racer. The Renault Safrane would probably not have been a very suitable base to build a racecar, due to being considerably larger and more bulky than the Laguna. Renault Sport chose wisely by using the smaller platform for their BTCC touring car racing projects. But as this photoshop chop blog is about the what-if and not about the reality, I applied the BTCC style with large wheels tucked under the fenders to the top-of-the-line vehicle in Renaults contemporary line-up. Arguably this car would have been a great fit in the starting grid of any British Touring Car Challenge racing weekend, at least visually. As they didn’t win anything with the Safrane on Sundays they never sold many on Mondays. Any excuse is good enough, I guess.

Thank you for the inspiration, Jonny Smith (The Late Brake Show).
