Not a lot of people knew about this vehicle when it was for sale in the early 90’s – and thirty years later, many of those who knew have forgotten all about it. The first generation replaced the 117 Coup√© and was also designed by Giorgetto Giugaro. Depending on the market, it was sold under different names. Japan got the Isuzu Piazza, Australia the Holden Piazza – but for unknown reasons, the American market version was called the Isuzu Impulse. I found this old press picture only and thought it is odd that the USDM model is pictured in front of Mount Fuji and a Shinkansen bullet train. They probably wanted to emphasize the vehicles origins. As I have always liked the shape and general quirkyness of this platform, I started a quick photoshop session. Subtle modifications suit the elegant design, and therefore I only changed a few details. It is lowered for a proper and sportier stance and rolls on Corvette C4 wheels. The c4 also donated rearview mirrors and door handles. Front and rear spoilers are enhanced and slighty larger.
