Very clean modular sleeping pods. You get a 2 x 1 m mattress and a 1 x 1 m space behind it to dress / undress and store your luggage. Not too dissimilar to capsule hotels in Japan, but with normal room height. Toilets on the same floor, showers in the basement which you can reach either by elevator or stairs. Bath robe and towels are provided in the room. The top floor offers a nice living room type space with couches and books (mostly about street art which I enjoyed a lot). There is also a lovely roof top terrace. Simple but good breakfast is served on the ground floor. Orange juice and local apple juice are free, as is coffee. If you prefer tea and ask nicely, it’s free as well.

Elevator is busy in the morning rush hour and you’re often quicker using the stairs instead. I chose this hotel because it is close to the Hauptbahnhof (six minute walk) and I wanted to try the modular sleeping pod concept. Love the pods (prefer them over dorm rooms any time) and relaxed atmosphere – but walking to and from the main station you cross an area with open drug use, lots of dealers, junkies and homeless people, some of which are begging rather annoyingly. There is a solution however – take a bus to / from Gurlittstraße and walk via Danzigerstraße, which is peaceful, to CAB20.
