Inspiration often comes in the form of unexpected triggers. Without such a trigger this weekend, opening a 2018 FIAT Doblò picture in Adobe Photoshop would have never crossed my mind, because why exactly would it? These light commercial vehicles (LCV) drive around on our streets every day of the week, yet they are more or less invisible and not exactly something that awakens the inner customizer. However, my motto has always been that there is joy to be had with altering any vehicle, improving the looks and making it more desirable – often to a point that a few minutes later a new tab is open in the browser, searching for such vehicles.
This 263-series FIAT Doblò is not just lowered, but has been treated to a more extensive body modification than first meets the eye. The wheel arches have been enlarged and relocated upwards in order to bring the whole car closer to the ground. Front spoiler, sidekirts and a rear diffusor with tailored exhaust pipes have been added and massaged to fit. Headlights and taillights have been modified to a darker appearance and the windows have been tinted. For the longest time I wanted to fit classic AZEV A wheels on a car that isn’t from the 1990s and they fit the FIAT Doblò perfectly, in my opinion. Roof rails are blacked out and the radiator grille has been opened, hinting at more power under the bonnet. Now, who wouldn’t want to drive that?
Thank you for the inspiration, Peter.
