As so often, the idea for a photoshop chop got sparked by pictures of two different vehicles being displayed next to each other in a system folder. In this case it was a metallic blue Lamborghini Countach 5000QV and a the Volkswagen T3 Vanagon Syncro in the reference picture you see below. Everybody knows about the Porsche 911 engine T3 variations, but I wanted to create something that would be possible now, as the sportscar manufacturer belongs to VW now. The initial idea was to cut the Countach widebody and paste it onto the Vanagon. It kind of worked, but in order to look just right it had to be tweaked considerably and it took me many hours to make it look convincing. The Lamborghini has a very sculpted body, whereas the T3 is rather slab-sided. Wheel size looked very wrong, as 15″ is way too small for a wide-body T3 and it looked good only after several tries. The rear end was cut off at an angle to fit the V12 exhaust and the iconic NACA duct on the side was added relatively late in the process. After all… it may or may not have a Sant’ Agata Bolognese’ sourced V12 powertrain inside.
