“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” – Mark Twain / The Innocents Abroad

A New Year – a New Country

28.12.2014   |   Frankfurt → Muscat

A couple of years ago, I set myself a challenge: in addition to the countries frequently traveled, I want to experience at least one country per year that I’ve never been to previously. This has led me to visit Portugal, the UK, Slovenia and Norway in the last two years. In order to keep the challenge alive, a friend and me decided to kick-off 2015 with a new country: the Sultanate of Oman. Not on many peoples list of travel destinations, the country is well worth a visit! Because we’ve been limited to ten days only, we decided on looping the northern part of Oman. To keep it interesting, we mixed interesting cities with beautiful beaches, hiking a wadi, exploring the desert and seeing the highest mountain.

We racked up almost 2.000 kilometers, stayed in four hotels, three tents and a log cabin. Variety is key, as always 🙂

Stay tuned for more information and beautiful pictures to be posted here in the next couple of days.
