Walking from Shiba to Azabu

A 20 minute walk is great to stretch your legs after sitting in an airplane for eleven hours on the previous day. The distance between the hotel and the hostel for the following nights was a most welcome stroll. Little did I know at this point, that the day would end after walking for the better part of eleven hours and 20+ kilometers.

Due to the extended Golden Week holiday period, the streets in Shiba and Azabu seemed eerily quiet. Empty parking lots and closed shops only, but quite a few classic cars waiting to become part of the ever-growing Drive-by Snapshots collection. British Beat specializes in vintage Motorcycles and the showroom window acts as a time machine. Literally one minute before arriving at the destination, Book Tea Bed Azabu-Bujan, I walked past the Embassy of the Republic of Palau. Almost without noticing, because the tiny country island republic has a rather small embassy. Thanks to the lettering above the garage door, I’m now aware that the Republic of Palau exists. Yet more proof that traveling is good for your education.
